Job Description:
The Lead Game Designer will be responsible for developing core concepts, game play mechanics and game content in partnership with other department leads. Other responsibilities include defining and implementing the design process for the entire project and managing and mentoring other members of the design team.
The Lead Designer must have the ability to conceptualize, create and maintain detailed game design documentation throughout the entire project cycle; as well as continuously balance and adjusting the game play experience to ensure the product's critical and commercial success.
The Lead Designer must also have or develop an intimate knowledge of trends and preferences for all the major MMO markets of the world.
Requirements:
- Previous Lead Design role on at least one AAA game that has made it to market.
- Excellent understanding of game design theories and proven game mechanics
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal communication and person-management skills
- Able to be pragmatic in seeking resolution to problems and conflicts
- Previous MMO experience a definite advantage

Responsibilities
- Implement game code conforming to performance guidelines and coding standards of the game/studio respectively.
- Report progress on programming tasks to the Lead Programmer on the game.
- Communicate clearly any designs or implementation of features on the game to peers and leads.
- Monitor performance and memory usage of implemented features.
- Conform to the integration practice for the studio.
Requirements
- Strong C++ skills and PC programming experience.
- Knowledge of common software design patterns.
- Tertiary qualifications in a computing related field – Computer Science degree or similar.

Plusses
- Previous commercial experience working as a game programmer.
- Strong experience in graphics, sound, and maths (especially linear algebra).

Responsibilities
- Develop game engine modifications.
- Implement tools and technology to improve the performance and feature set of the game engine and developer toolset.
- Work closely with Artists to allow them to produce high quality content.
- Monitor performance and memory system usage and give guidelines to game programmers and content providers to allow them to improve the game.
- Report progress to the Technical Director(s) and Lead Engine Software Engineer on the project.
- Extend the game engine to support the latest game and graphics techniques.
- Participate in technical research and decision making for adoption of third party technology options for the game.
Requirements
- Very Strong C/C++ skills.
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art graphical and systems programming techniques for games.
- Previous systems programming experience on a commercial game.
- Experience programming graphical systems and effects for previous 3D C++ game titles.
- Experience programming with Direct3D.
- Workable knowledge of 3DS MAX and other graphical applications such as Adobe Photoshop.
- Previous graphics programming experience on one or more shipping game titles.
Plusses

- Liaise directly with the Online Lead Programmer and “Technical Director – Online” to develop the online networking and server infrastructure for a large scale PC based MMOG.
- Develop server based game modules.
- Develop tools, systems and game technology required for an MMOG in C++ and custom script languages.

Job Description:
The Environment Artist main responsibility is to create Worlds and the objects they contain. He/She is working to create high and low resolution mesh to both an artistic as well as a technical brief closely with Designers, Concept Artists and Art Director. The Environment Artist is an expert in advanced 3d packages and modern digital painting processes. They have a proven understanding of lighting concepts and are familiar with game lighting, vertex and texture baking processes.
Environment Artists are required to create maps for common shader passes such as normal and specular maps. They are also responsible for damage states, props and game data creation such as collision or occlusion zones.
Requirements:
- A strong technical background in MAX, Photoshop/Painter or equivalent software.
- Solid understanding of 3D art processes/pipelines for games production.

The Character Modeler specializes in creating all creatures and characters. He/She is working to both an artistic as well as a technical brief. The Character Modeler works closely with the Art Director, Concept Artist and Animator. The Character Modeler is an expert in advanced 3d packages and modern digital painting processes. He/She will paint and assign multi layer texture maps and is able to balance these to awesome visual result. He/She will also work with the animator to setup and rig the characters they create. Character Modelers a have a strong understanding of human and animal anatomy as well as colour and shape.

Job Description:
The Animators main responsibility is to make characters and creatures move to feel dynamic and fluid.
They will have strong knowledge of 3d motion principles, dynamics, and are able to express a given mood through animation of body and face. Animators also have a deep understanding of the rigging process and tools. They will work with motion capture data and have an understanding of combining with key framed animation.
Animators will work closely with the Art Director as well as Game Programmers. As animations give a lot of mood and feeling to the game, the animator is required to demonstrate a willingness to rework or change his animations to the direction of the game.
Requirements:
- Demonstrate an understanding of scheduling and logistics of character animation
- A strong technical background in MAX, Motion Builder or equivalent software.

Job Description:
The Concept Artist visualizes amazing and memorable inspiration for all games creators. They posses strong knowledge, as well as intuition of lighting, shape and colour. They are unique artists who will work with Art Directors, Designers and all other art disciples requiring visualization of ideas. These Ideas will be visualized as thumbnails, then rough sketches and lastly fully rendered if required. This work is highly iterative and requires concept artists to demonstrate a willingness to rework, change or discard work if not considered to be fitting the overall game requirements. They should also possess a solid background in 3d art tools such as max and zbrush.
Requirements:
- A strong technical background in Photoshop/Painter or equivalent software.
- Good illustration, composition, shape, colour and lighting knowledge. Traditional art training is a plus.

Job Description:
The Tech Artist is at the centre of the connection between art and programming staff. They are
generalists with astute problem solving skills to create solutions to both pipeline and general art/technology production. He/she is also improving and finding solutions to day to day art problems. Individuals in this role are self driven, highly organized and excellent communicators.
Tech Artists have a good grasp of 3d script languages such as MAXScript or Python and work well with tool programmers to create plug-ins for 3d/2d software in order to streamline the art pipeline.
They actively improve render and workflow performance related art issues by monitoring art assets, and helping artists to better organize their creation process.
They can demonstrate a broad understanding of game art: Modeling, Texturing, Shaders, Animation, Rigging, Lighting, FX and data sharing.
Requirements:
- Good game production experience.
- Intimate knowledge of Photoshop, Max and solid scripting skills.
- Strong knowledge of modeling, texturing/shading, animation, lighting and rigging.
- Work within limitations outlined by art and program leads.

Job Description:
Real U is looking for an experienced technical sound designer for a permanent, full-time position. Successful candidates will understand the importance of designing, mixing, implementing and managing high quality game audio.
Responsibilities:
- Working in 3D environments, integrating sound with characters, items, and other objects and game locations
- Designing, creating, editing, converting and managing large volumes of audio content
- Working closely with the audio director, designers, artists and programmers to creatively solve game development problems
- Interfacing with contractors/vendors
- Testing audio on target platforms
Requirements:
- Must have commercial experience working on games and a working understanding of the technical constraints of audio design for games.
- Hands-on experience using proprietary and/or custom game audio tools on a shipped title (e.g. SCREAM, Xact, Wwise, FMOD etc). Implementation will form a large part of candidate’s responsibilities. Ability to create and mix film-quality sound effects through extensive knowledge of relevant audio packages (Pro Tools, Nuendo, Sound Forge, Peak, etc).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills and experience working closely with audio programmers.
- Highly creative and imaginative with a keen attitude toward problem solving and an ability to quickly learn and use a variety of audio platforms/tools.
- Great work ethic, positive attitude and able to take direction well.
- The ideal candidate will have experience with Unreal Engine 3 (audio, scripting)
Plusses:
- Familiarity with c++ is a plus.
- Some scripting language knowledge is also desirable.
- Experience with extending the capabilities of the Unreal Engine 3 audio system.
