Lead Animator
The Lead Animator is responsible for setting and refining the processes and pipelines that govern the development of the game’s animations, and for ensuring that the quality of the animations is as high as it can be.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Art Director as well as Game Programmers and Designers to create animations of bipeds, monsters, mobs and creatures, and for those animations to bring game assets, including the player’s own character, to life.
- Animating individual characters and scenic elements within the game, and managing the animation team towards the same goals.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Very good knowledge of the principles of animation
- Excellent 3D animation skills
- A good eye for detail
- Understanding of the logistics of character animation
- A strong technical background in MAX, Motion Builder or equivalent software.
- An ability to express different mood and feeling through motion.
- Solid understanding of 3D art processes/pipelines for games production.
- The ability to work under the guidance and direction of the Game and Art Directors.
- The ability to work to timelines.
- Good communication skills.
- A passion for the making and playing of online games.
- Must enjoy team/collaborative work.
- Must be willing to revisit work in an iterative process to ensure the required quality
- Must have a deep understanding of the rigging process and tools
- Able to work with motion capture data and have an understanding of combining with key framed animation
Optional Desired Experience and Skills:
- Passion for film, animation, and games
- Fluency in Photoshop
