Game Systems Designer
The MMO Game Systems Designer is responsible for creating, refining, and maintaining a variety of game systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and implement innovative game systems that cover a wide range of gameplay elements such as combat, leveling, user interface, player goals.
- Write and maintain design system documents
- Overseeing the design of tools, pipelines, formulas and schemas
- Work closely with members of the production team to execute design and work though design revisions as needed
- Detail specific AI requirements for NPCs, Mobs and Bosses.
- Breakdown system goals into individual components
- Iteratively review, tweak and balance game systems
- Generate clear and understandable design documentation to a level that the documentation acts as a clear, stand-alone implementation guide
- Present ideas in a succinct manner, to a wide variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical
- Provide input on the game's vision, helping to champion that vision to other team members
Required Experience and Skills:
- Exceptional organization, communication, and writing skills.
- Minimum of 5 years game design experience in the game industry, with design credit on at least AAA game title. MMO and RPG experience a definite advantage
- Positive, professional attitude. Disciplined and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Team player with ability to work well under pressure
- Experienced with scripting languages such as LUA, Python, or C++ structured scripting languages.
- Up to date with the latest MMO game design trends.
- Excellent understanding of past and current game trends with a keen interest in MMOs and social online gaming
Optional Desired Experience and Skills:
- Experience of the Unreal engine
- Good math background
- Experience in pipeline & tools design
- Some programming knowledge
